I have heard from a couple of people that drilling a small dia hole in the throttle body plate will help cure idle surging.. Is there any TRUTH to this? If so, what dia and where do you drill it?
Surging is caused by 2 things. Vacuum leaks and wrong injector flow rate. Check for leaks with a smoke test. Check fuel pressure. 39-40 with vacuum off.
Idle plate might help by raising idle to mask the real problem. Don't touch the throttle screw to raise the idle, you will only cause more headaches.
The hole in the throttle plate is a trick to allow more air into the engine to stop it from stalling when coming to a stop.
Start with vacuum leaks. Definitely use a smoke test.
Your tune or TB is set up wrong or you have a vacuum leak. Don't drill holes. Drilling a hole is no different than resetting the throttle closed stop except you can't adjust it or undo it. It's dumb advice.
