03 Cobra build

Well im new here so I will introduce myself. I am usually on the moddedmustangs forums as 4valvegt, there seems to be alot more going on in this forum as far as the classifieds and the svt section so I made an acount. I have had a few gts a 96, 00 and an 01 that I did the mark 8 swap to. I until recently had a 99 cobra that was eaton swapped but sold it to buy this car. I have always wanted an 03 cobra but didnt want to have over 20 grand in one so this is what I have to work with, I bought the car from a kid that claimed it had a "slight" miss. When I looked at it I knew exactly what was going on when the dipstick was pushed up and smoke was rolling out the filler cap but we made a deal and I bought it anyway so here she is.

I was extremely surprised to find a teksid block but dissapointed in what i found inside of it

Progress so far, ordered a set of manley 11cc dish pistons instead of the diamond pistons i have. I was going to use a termi block i had laying around instead of the teksid but changed my mind and the teksid doesnt need to be bored.

Heads are done just needed a valve job and milled. Guides are in good shape I plan to use the cooling mod. Had to cut the crank .10 under on the mains some of the piston debris got past the filter and trashed the bearings. Should be updating with more photos soon as more parts come in and it starts going back together.

New pistons showed up today! Rings and bearings are on the way and the shortblock will be coming together soon.

Are you putting the motor back together stock or any modding plans?

Going with the teksid aluminum block, original for the 03 was a cast iron block. Using the factory forged crank and rods just bumping the comrpession a little with the 11.5cc dished manleys, head studs and maybe a little more agressive cam. I will be pushing the limits of the ported eaton for awhile until a turbo setup or whipple fits in the budget.

Also might have my eclipse sold and have enough money to get a real set of rims. Either black chrome or anthracite fr500s.

I would love to have an '03-04 Cobra. Good luck with the build. Shame to see it treated like that. What kind/size of wheels are on it? They look decent, but I like the factory 5 spoke, and even the anniversary wheels.

Nice Build, looks like you selected quality parts for the build. Make sure you post up some videos when you finish it!

I wanna see this thing on the streets!
