I'm NOT a gun prude but to hear some of the ball bags on this site with their chest thumping about owning guns is just kind of annoying. Waaahhh I need a gun to feel safe....waaahh the government is coming to get me and I need a gun to protect me....waaahh it's my constitutional right...waah waaahh waahhh. What I see is a bunch of guys who probably got picked on or beat up as kids, or they got an inch or two between their legs and now they NEED guns to feel like a man. I'd be willing to bet that about 95-99% of the gun owners on this site have never actually fired a weapon in self defense. Any douchewad can sit with shooting glasses and earphones and fire at a target in a range with no wind in a controlled environment. Sure makes u a man toolbox!!

Honestly the BS machismo by the gun owners on here is just pathetic.
Do you get a lot of nose bleeds up there on your ivory tower?

I was going to stay out of this...BUT... I have first hand knowledge on it.

My place was broken into by 3 people at least two armed.

I will never not have at least a handgun on my person preferably a shotgun near by.

Being ready cost me nothing but it damn sure saved my life.

I knew they were silly, but not THAT silly. A thumbhole stock? Of all the things listed that supposedly make a weapon "more dangerous" how the **** does a thumbhole stock do that? I get that most of them are related to concealability and capacity, but the thumbhole stock? Huh? Yeah... putting this stock on an otherwise legally acceptable rifle in CA will make it MUCH more dangerous...

The ####ed up thing, he's a marine and he knows that most of the people, especially the gun owners, are/were active duty and did time in the sandbox. I never thought highly of his page long rants but the guy truly proves his idiocy in that post.

SMH...

Uncles, did there service in WWII. One on the ground in occupied Japan, two others in fighters and bomber over Europe. Cousins did their time in the paddies of Nam..

Stupid part is, every gun owner hopes to never have to use a gun in self defense. I can only say, I would not hesitate to fire if it was a choice between my family and I verses an intruder. Judged by 12 over carried by 6.

You're just a gungho piece of #### oozing machismo then. Might even throw in some compensating because you're not as awesome your family who served.

True, and those of us that are military/veterans (some of us with a lot more time in than him) firearm enthusiasts, thankfully don't think like that. To the majority of us, guns/hunting/reloading is a hobby and not a way to feel "manly" . But yeah, he's the ONLY one here that's ever been fired upon, served combat time, or seen the effects of a gunshot wound. I wounder if he's related to a former member?

I know guys who would like nothing more than to have to pull their gun on someone and shoot them. I hear their stupid tactical monologues all the time.

I need to tell them that the tactical vests they're using for a coverup would be more convincing if they hung a fishing lure or 2 off of them. One guy shot through his office wall with his tactical .45, the bullet went across the desk in the next office. Another one shot himself in the leg with a Glock .40 and it just made a clean hole through his leg; so much for the super T-Rex whiz bang popper double penetrator hollow points.

It's unfortunate, but there is a certain percentage of gun owners who are like that. There are also gun owners who have a gun and would never pull that firearm to defend themselves and could possibly end up having it taken away and used against them. There's always the "fringe" areas of groups that both sides us to try and further their agendas.

Fortunately, the core group of firearms owners are like neither of the groups mentioned above....

The thing about a gun ban..which I would never be for considering I carry a handgun, is the last time I checked.. Criminals don't listen to laws, so how does a gun ban lower crime? It doesn't, it only works for the people who are law abiding

By Peter Nickeas Tribune reporter

3:57 a.m. CST, December 11, 2011

At least six people were wounded early Sunday morning in four shootings across the city.

The shootings happened as far north as Uptown, which has seen a rash of shootings over the past three weeks, and as far south as Englewood, with two other incidents on the West and Southwest Sides.

The face is actually the logical point of entry. Least amount of bone to get through, most amount of structural weakness on the skull.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you but posting one news article to prove a point is like the dumbest tactic ever.

I don't believe in Global Warming...but when people show Wednesday's weather forecast of snow to support the failure of Global Warming I cringe. Holding up such insufficient information as your proof really weakens your credibility.

What you need to do is click that Breaking news - chicagotribune.com link every day. Every day I read that, some days it gets double digits of people shot some days it's only single digit who get shot. I have been following that for about a year and I am sick of it.

Speaking of credibility, when are you going to show yours and race KCLX?

So really, do we need guns? To me they cause more harm than good. If guns were banned we could potentially eliminate a lot of violent crimes and more easily identify people carrying weapons who intend to do harm.

Gun bans sound bad, but statistically they should be helpful.

What do you think.
I read a study once that showed how more people die from accidental drownings in pools than from gun shots here in the US. So if that is true then I think we should focus on the greater risk here and be talking about banning people from having swimming pools at their homes. This would in turn help save more human lives, statistically speaking of course. If you want a source for that just Google it, plenty out there to prove either side of the argument on it.

I think a very simple fact exists and that is if guns are banned today and everyone must turn theirs in. Then really only the law abiding citizens will be the ones who are disarmed. The people who want to do illegal things will find ways to still get things like guns or whatever else it is they want to do illegal things with. A gunless society is a safer society but it is borderline impossible to take a gun society and make it gunless.
