FL has a good number of illegals that would never spend a dime on a income tax, yet will use all that the income tax pays for, so they do a sales tax. Same with TX.

If you want to see the flip side, look at CA and how well they are doing by only taxing the legal workers, while providing services for all illegals. They get more Federal money and money set aside for other states just to make it month to month. They have failed about as bad as Obama and our Government at doing whats best for the American people.

No income tax because they don't need it. It's also a right to work state so there is not a huge amount of workers that are paid over the market rate.

Because the place is so full of retirees with no "income" to tax, they stick it to you in sales taxes instead.

Not as bad as Arizona though...no state income tax here either, but the state, county, and city sales taxes add up to a ridiculous 9.3% where I live.

Yep. We get by just fine without it. They add some taxes to home purchases and overall property taxes to make up for it though.

We do have a state tax . Its called tourist tax. You out of staters pay for it. The downside is we get alot of non driving fools down here though.

A neat tax is Hotel taxes. They are almost crooked. When I travel with my Military and Law Enforcement jobs I get exempt from the tax, and some rates are high and the tax goes to set things.

Last I knew the Hotel tax in the City of Chicago was 14%. And that was almost 20 years ago. I'm sure it's a hell of a lot higher now with the recent increases.

where did you get the idea that arizona doesnt have an income tax? we in fact do have a state income tax. wyoming and nevada dont though.

Our property taxes in NC are low compared to other places, but we have a 7.75% sales tax on top of state income tax, so the total take by the state adds up to almost 15% depending on your income bracket. Our gas tax is also the highest in the southeast.

We generally send Republicans to washington yet (until this past year) elect dumbocrats to run Raleigh. Our governor is a first class retard.

I dearly love my native state, but as soon as I punch the retirement button, I will become a legal resident of Florida.

7.5% over here in the panhandle. At Pensacola Beach they have an additional tax. Can't remember how much it is but it is somewhere like 0.5-1.5% on top of the 7.5%.

Baldwin County, AL sales tax varies from 8 to 9.5% + state income tax of about 3.5%. Property tax is about 1/4 percent of the county appraised value of my home. $150k appraised, $400 property tax.

I was born in Harlingen, TX and spent much of my childhood stomping around the Rio Grande Valley as a child. My parents moved to Corpus for work but we spent weekends "home" in the Valley.

Yup, property tax so I'm told. I've never owned a house, yet alone in other states, so I can't speak for certain, but I hear Florida is high. The home I'm living at payd about $3,500 a year in property tax, down from over 6K a year back in 07. Just a couple houses over are some large custom homes. The largest pays almost 12K a year in property tax.
