Delete My Account!
So I get this message on one of my sites asking for me to delete his account immediately! Delete the account because he don't come to the site anymore. And he puts this stuff in a chatbox...repeatedly.
Here is my issue: If you are asking me to delete your account because you no longer come to the site, why are you there in the first place? I PMd him and told him I deleted his email address so he won't get anymore emails from the site. Also, if you don't log in to your account (at least on my sites) for 6 months, your name goes into a "Inactive" status. Even more pathetic (for me at least) is a "going away" post. Someone posting your site sucks and they are leaving. To me, this is just a "look at me...boo hoo hoo post...the management is so mean...blah, blah blah". If you don't want to be at a site, then don't come back. No need for you to post that you are leaving. I mean, there are several sites I have left just because I outgrew the site or it outgrew me...no reason for a pathetic "going away" post. ![]() Sorry for the rant. I am sure if you are on enough forums, you have seen this more than once.

No link for flames?
![]() I'd just move the thread right to your admin forum. You know the bastard keeps coming back to check the replies. No replies, no satisfaction from him.

Sometimes I will let the thread run it's course than lock it up. On SGW and Mafia, I will usually let it go on until I feel it's done. On US, being a PG-rated site, I usually move it immediately. Did that to one of our female members just a month ago. Lady hasn't been on the site in months. Comes in making a post about how the site and me still suck. We moved that and gave her the "ban hammer". Of course, I am sure that is what she wanted.

Yea, I can delete accounts, ban, or move posts...etc.
Sometimes, like I said, I let them say their peace. It just amazes me that if they don't want to be there, then why come to the site at all?

Although the guy didn't handle it well, I could see a reason people would want their account deleted. If they don't want all those accounts floating around the internet attached to their screenname/ email address, they might want to delete a few.
I got an email the other day from US stating that I requested to reset my password, when I haven't been there in probably more than a year. It can be a lot of accounts to remember.

Dang, my post disappeared.
No it wasn't Dean. ![]() The password change was sent out to everyone. We had a lot of folks that hadn't signed on in a while, so we initiated that. Lots of folks were emailing us for passwords. And I do delete their email addresses upon request so they don't keep getting emails. I don't see a issue with screen names all over the web. As long at it is not their last name, it doesn't seem like a biggie to me.
