Does Ford Give Loaner Vehicles for Warranty Service?

Took my car to have some stuff fixed today - it's going to take longer than expected. I was under the impression that I'd be getting a loaner vehicle, but service guy said "no, Ford doesn't do that".

I know they DO do that, but what do you have to do to get one? Does it have to be w/in the first year of in-service date?

Funny, since the main reason it went in was for recall work, but now they say they've found something additional amiss with the rear susp. (don't ask - wasn't clear what they said was the prob). Ford should ALWAYS provide loaners for recall customers if you have to be w/o a car overnight.

pain....

I thought you guys (SVT owners) got loaners too. Most places if you buy the car from will give you one anyway. If you have ESP, you should've got one.

Yes the dealer is to give you a rental car for any service other then a oil change. They do have to be a SVT dealer to be bound to these terms. There's a copy of the bullitin that went out to the dealers either on here in the archives or on blueoval archives.

The free loaner is only for those that purchased a 2001 or later SVT vehicle. SVT will cover up to $28 of rental fees, any more is out of the owner's pocket.

It must depend on the dealer.

When I booked an appointment he asked if I needed a loaner.

When I said yes, I had to wait a few days extra for a car to be available.

I got a loaner car when my starter went, but I have the extended warranty and I believe those were part of the terms of the warranty. I was also under the impression that SVT dealerships were supposed to give loaner cars, but I know besides this incident I have never gotten one.

My experience is loaner cars are granted if you are on an extended warranty plan or if the service department is in a good mood.

2001 SVT Cobra came with a premium standard warranty which is why we get a rental paid for. I have had my in the shop for the CD player, pinging, leaking p/s pump and something else(can't remember). Each time they paid for a rental.

The first vehicle the rental place gave me was a Chevy TrailBlazer. It came back with a crossed out bowtie drawn on the rear window with shoe polish. Then they gave me a Jeep GC. I drove that though a mud hole a couple of times. The last two times, they gave me an F150 extended cab. They finally learned what to give me.
