Question What year did the AOD-E trans come out?

Hey all,
My buddy has a 90 and the guy told him that he had an
AOD-E. I thought the AOD-E's came out after 93 and prior were just AOD's.
Thanks all,
Steve

No '93 Mustang had an AODE transmission. If you want to say "late '93" did then you mean the calendar year ('94 model year), not the model year.

93 Mustangs had AOD's in them, all of them. The 94 was a whole new car, PCM, and the AODE transmission.

You have to use a different kit for an AODE, than for the AOD.

AODE's came out first not in Mustangs, but in F150's and others, the big cars being first, like Crown Vics and Town Cars. Regards,

I was only questioning this becuase my 93 GT WAS an AOD car when I bought it, however its not anymore. Granted its vin number ends in 01774 so its a VERY early build, built 8 days after productoin started, on August 12th (production of the 93 Fox started on august 4th)

And since 94 mustangs had different computers than the fox bodies to control the AODE.........hence my doubt :P

The 94/95's had the odd auto trans PCM, where the PCM would send a signal for shifts that would not work for manual cars. Before that any PCM could work in any model because the AOD is not electronic shifting. The AODE is all electonic shifting, no TV valve or cable, and tons of different internal parts. I never heard of an AODE in a 93 Mustang. It wouldn't make sense for Ford to have done that, knowing that they would change everything in the next model.

The issue would be easily resolved if you could get a picture of your friend's door tag. The door tag tells all!

Umm...lets just put some facts on the table and you all can argue for no reason.
1) FOX BODY MUSTANG AOD up to 1993
2) SN95 BODY MUSTANGE 1994-1995 AODE

The FOX never came with an AODE - lets be smart about this.
