1993 Cobra differences vs 1993 GT/LX?

What separates a 93 Cobra from it's GT/LX 5.0 brethren? What else besides the exterior, GT 40 heads, and Cobra Intake?
Purchasing a 93 Cobra tomorrow morning and just wanted some more info. Thanks!

The computer is specific for a cobra and everyone on here says to stay away from it when changing computers, why I don't know.

specific part numbers

This is the different parts on a cobra. I know it is a long list but I put it together and it was too easy to cut and paste it. The obvious cobra differences are, it has rear discs, different fascias (side and rear), an opening in the grille with running horse, 7 fin turnstlye wheels and no cruise. it also has a D in the vin engine code position instead of an E. the list below is all the different parts that are not on a GT or LX 5.0 only on the cobra.

I personally have worked on the front brakes of the cobra and the calipers are the 73mm Lincoln version that came on the 1984-1986 SVO 4 cylinder turbo. The part numbers listed are specifically for the SVO, but will bolt right up to any 87-93 V8 mustang and are factory replacements for the 1993 cobra.

Thanks.. I noticed that I don't have the front brake part numbers for the 73 mm calipers. I will "edit" after I leave work tonight and get home. Actually I was wrong, some of the door side molding pieces are the same as 93 GT's and the taillight "housings" (the lenses are obviously different than the GT's and similar to the SVO's on the cobra). The door moldings are the same only in the colors Ebony and Red.

The computor has a less agresive timing curve than the A9L computor found in 5 speed 89 up Mustangs

Goodson,
The 93 Cobra R's had rear discs, not the regular 93 Cobras.

Goodson,
Don't worry about the 73mm calipers, they're not stock. Up front
The 93 Cobra calipers are the same size as a GT/LX, 65mm I think?
fast_wht91gt,
Also, all Cobras had rear disc brakes. 93 Cobra R's had the 94-brakes(5-lug, rear disc, front 13" PBR calipers).

The regular cobras did have rear disc brakes as SVO LOU said, and they were the same rear as the 4 lug T-bird turbo coupe rear but, without the exciter rings for ABS, and the cobra having mustang quad shock mounting. they are .75" wider on each side. That is why the 93 cobra has different front rotors to put the wheels in line. The hat part of the rotor is approximately .75" taller than a regular GT or LX. I know because I put them on my car.

I thought the same until I worked on one, and MM&FF stated them having the 73mm calipers. They are 73 mm with phenolic pistons. The pistons are shaped to accept the same front brake pads as the GT and LX. Even the guys at Ford were like... "Something ain't right here!" Stock GT and LX are 66 mm on 87-93's.

I think you also missed the F3ZE-6250-A cam, unless I went through the list too fast. The list is cool - same stuff in Al Kirshenbaums book, just on the one page!

yep!! I sure did.... thanks I am adding stuff to the list as a go along. I got most of the part numbers from Al Kirschenbaum's book, but there were some things that he did not list.

I can't believe I found this about 93 Cobras and the last post is in 2002.

Well, it's 12 years later and I have a question.
Is there a Part Number on the 3rd Brake Light Lens? OR
Is the 3rd Brake Light Lens the same as those on the Mustang GT with the "Free Air" Spoiler?

Please PM me the answer if anyone has it.

Thank You!
Jon
