Teflon Power Steering Seals, has anyone replaced them?
I am in the process of putting my 90 LX back on the street and I am reinstalling the power steering system. I have a new Ford rack and PS pump. I had read online that during this process you should replace the teflon o rings so I went to the dealer and picked them up. They sold 2 different sizes so I bought a number of each, but the Ford system doesn't show these being used in the Mustang steering system.
1) Do the seals go on the high pressure line? 2) Do they go both pump end and rack end? 3) Are they seated on the threaded part of the line or where do they sit when you install them? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tim |

They are used only on the high pressure lines. I replaced my rack and lines last year. The replacement lines came with teflon seals. They go on the threaded portion if I remember correctly. There are all kinds of messages about heating them in hot water before installation but I had no problems like that, they went right on (and I have no leaks). They will be on both ends of the high pressure line.
