Unhappy Can an exhaust leak cause a backfire?

If there is an exhaust leak at the header collector gaskets, could this cause an intermittent backfire out the exhaust?

It occurs when the car is fully warmed up and idling in neutral and happens every few seconds.

This is on a carbed car with a brand new vac secondary Holley and the idle mixture screws 1.5 turns out, with no apparent vaccum leaks.

Any thoughts are appreciated.
