Not all 4r70w trannys will work from 96 to 04 they will bolt up. But its the internals that are different. 96 and 97 will work no problem, 98 is a year all to itself.. 99 and up there where alot of internal and sensors added.. The only way to get a 96 and 97 year tranny to work in a 98 is to change the valve body and all the wiring inside that runs along the valve body.. I know this from experiance bro..

I just wanted to share this info with you, I didnt want you to have to deal with someone who could not make it work in there car.. What you asking for the tranny is a great deal..

Your tranny is out of a 98 correct. To make it work in 97 and 96 there is a pin out of the wiring you have to change some where on the web, to make a 96 and 97 year tranny work in a 98 the valve body will have to be changed to make it work , 98 has different wiring pin outs. I however do not think your tranny will work for 99 and up.. I found this out the hard way, I had a 98 and my tranny was messing up, I found one the guy just had it rebuilt. He said it would work in 96 to 98(it was a 96 year tranny) It was a good deal, so I bought it.. It bolted right up and when I went to start plugging everything some of the plugs would not connect. After checking it over real good I found out the wiring is different. So I had to drop the vavle body and install the valve body out of the 98 to make it work..

Yes, it's out of a 98. That sucks man, thank you for the info. So it should work fine in a 98, and it can be made to work in a 96 and 97 with minor work, correct?

Hey, it is not rebuilt. Original with 35k miles on it. Shifted smooth as butter when it was changed, I only changed it because I had a friend who was able to help me do the swap at a very low price. I do not have any proof of the miles on it and all I have left is what is in the pictures

The body of my car has 116k on it lol The engine and tranny both have less than 20k miles on them which is irrelevant but anyway, I bought my car with 75k miles on it and the tranny went bad on me within the first year of owning it. I changed the tranny and put in a brand new one at around 80,000 miles. Then at 115,000 miles I decide I want something different and don't wanna sell the car so the manual conversion was done, and my car has been manual since. There is no proof of the exact mileage on the transmission unfortunately though, so obviously it doesn't help my cause in trying to sell it, but I have no use for it at all.

I have told people this before but I know that its in excellent shape and I would give a full refund to anyone if they had a problem with it at all because I know there is nothing wrong with it at all. I'm not trying to scam anyone, it has happened to me in the past with car parts and it sucks a lot. Its obviously hard to go by people's words these days without proof.
