what size slicks for 15x8 draglites?

i plan to run 26 inch tall as im only running 3:73's and am pretty mild on power (under 300rwhp). my question is should i run the 26x8.5 MT's or the 26x10 on these rims? the main problem being is i need to clear flipped quad shocks. i have to put the quad shocks back on because i cant even do a burnout without severe wheel hop.

thanks.

well the 8.5's appear to be smaller than my street tires

according to summit:

25/8.5/15
section width: 9.9
tread width: 8.1

my street tire:
26/10/15 S/R
section width: 10.3
tread width: 8.8

26/10/15
section: 11.6
tread: 9.6

i have ran the 275/50/15 DR's before and they are 11.3, and 10. i had rubbing issues with these and a 1/4 inch spacer. cleared my rolled fender lips, but rubbed the inner fender. def wouldnt fit with QS's. i may just have to purchase a set of control arms before slicks.

28 inch slicks arnt an option for me. not only do i not have enough gear as it is, but the car is also a lowered GT - they wouldnt fit.

Run the 8.5's, I currently have both 26x8.5 and 26x10.5 and the 10.5 have a rounded profile to them on the 8 inch wheels. Planning on putting them on 10 inch wheels for next year to have a flatter contact patch.

how well do you hook on the 8.5? how much power? think i will have any issue?

do you have any pictures of this tire installed?

do you think i would still be able to hook on it with a 150 shot?

after doing a little research into other brands i think im going to go with the 26x9 hoosier. its specs are nearly identical to my 26/10 sportsman S/R that i run everyday. so i shouldn't face clearance issues.

how do the hoosiers hook?

Ive gone 1.49 on my 26x8.5's. I do plan on trying a set of 26x9 Hoosiers next yr though. I'm probably 430rwhp I'd guess.

I would recommend 28x9 MT ET drags. They are actually 27" diameter. The slightly taller sidewall helped with the shock of the launch over my 26x10's when my car was a 302 stick car. I ran them on 15x8 draglites, 5.5" b.s. with quad shock turned around for clearance.

I ran 26x9 hoosiers on my car with 15x8 rims. Looked better than the 15x8.5 slicks I've also ran. Very happy with the Hoosiers, I would recommend them.

The 26x10 slicks on 15x8 rims should fit and look a lot like the 26x11.50 ET street many people run.

26x8.5... the rule here is to use the shortest and most narrow tire you can get away with. The lower your coefficient of drag is the better it is for you car. A 10" wide slick has a lot more rolling resistance that an 8" wide slick... And if your not making huge power you wont have a problem with a properly tuned suspension. Also the fact that you only have 3.73's puts you at a disadvantage in terms of tire diameter. I run 4.56 gears in my car and a 28" tall drag radial is still too much for my motor, granted I'm mostly stock but it goes to show how much tire diameter can help or hinder your performance

I run a M/T 26x10 with no quad shock. I would always get wheel hop on the burnout if my RPM's were below 5,000. So now I hold the burnout at 6,000 just on the backside of the water box. The key thing is to have plenty of water all of the way around the slick. My coupe put's out only 285 rwhp and I leave the line at 5,000 RPM and pull a 1.67 60ft.. This is done with 14lbs of air and 3.73's.
