I appreciate it but the church is really going to. Just pass the word to your friends to. There were no corners cut on the car. It was built to handle over 1000hp which I had plans to do. So this is definitely going to make someone a very nice car. I think it was going to be only 2500 tickets sold so that is pretty good odds for what you are getting. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. You can also email me at beautracy99@Verizon.net

Jesus is the Christ the Son of the Living God
Beau,
you are fulfilling the Law of Christ which in essence states that is is better to give than it is to receive. I want to give honor to where honor is due,,,,,,,,to God for giving you the faith that proves that in this world all thing rust and are ultimately destroyed but laying up treasures in heaven will never spoil!! AWESOME MAN!!!! God Bless, Chris. |

I really appreciate it old flash red. It's very hard to give this up. It really didn't sink in until the first ticket was actually sold and then I got the knots in my stomach. I have never run the car at the track. I really wanted to and still do but I probably won't. Leave that to the new owner. I have pics I can email to anyone who wants them just leave your email and I will also give my phone # to people who want to talk about the car. As far as the drawing it was going to be at the end of the month but i think it may be pushed back until march or April. Mostly because they tried selling tickets using paypal and then paypal would not allow after they sold like 10 tickets. Said it was against their regulations. So they had to setup some kind of separate account attached to their website which set them back a couple months. I think the max tickets sold was going to be 3000. If anyone has any questions pleasevfeel free to ask.

Don't think i am to post something like that on here yet so if someonevelse can I can forward it to them so it could get posted. It would be greatly appreciated.

I appreciate it. The church is going to try and have some kind of event to show the car and try to get the word out more. If anyone can post a video for me I have a walk around with the car running so some people can get an idea of what they are buying tickets for. Just let me know if there are any questions.

I could post the video if you emailed it to me.
PM me. Any idea how many tickets sold so far, and what the minimum is in order for the raffle to take place on the 31st? |

I Think the max was 3000. The drawing was scheduled for the 31st of this month but it is almost for sure going to get pushed back to april. There has been no advertising except by word of mouth and on here. Now if the date comes and there is 2500 sold they will go ahead with the drawing. I will also be putting brand new rear tires on the car of the winners choice. If they want the drag radials back on it or z rated tires to get slot more wear but the car will definitely be hard to hold to the road. There are Nittos on the front and I will put Nittos on the rear(drag or street) I had the video on my other laptop that crashed and so as soon as I get it loaded I will pm you and get you the video. I appreciate the help

I bought one yesterday. It was a pretty quick and easy process. Good luck to everyone!

I know I'm about to get flamed but oh well.
First, I bought a ticket for this car awhile back, long before I found this thread, I found the raffle on craigslist. Second, I'm sure the INTENTION here is forthright, however.... I see that in one post there will be 2500 tickets, in another 3,000, all guesses I'm sure as the person donating the prize is not managing the raffle. I also notice that on the church website they do no disclose the total number of tickets to be sold. On the church site the drawing is Dec 31 2011, with a caveat, that if not enough tickets are sold it may be pushed out to some unspecified date. In a post here it implies it probably will be pushed out until April 2012 or so. Ok, those are the facts as I know them. Here are all the problems with this Virginia Law (please refer to the Virginia Department of Agricultural and Consumer Services, bottom link Charitable Gaming, which indeed does cover this event. 1- If any income is 40,000 or more, a permit is required, in no event can it exceed 100,000 per year. 2500X25 = 62,500 3000X25 = 75,000 Under 100k legal maximum but definitely over the 40,000 minimum required for a permit. There is no mention of the permit number (required by VA law) on the Church website relative to this raffle. I assume this is being operated without the required permit. If that is correct, then that also means the required permit application also was not filed, reviewed and approved. In that permit the organization MUST detail the time date of the raffle, AND, they also MUST provide a NARRATIVE as to what the organization will do if not enough tickets are sold (either cancel refund or delay the drawing). This is important because the VDOACS does NOT approve permit applications wherein the permittee states they will DELAY the raffle due to insufficient sales to a different date, the only options that will be approved for the permit process are... A- Cancel / Refund B- Award prize anyhow If there is indeed a permit for this raffle can it be disclosed ? Thanks As I said, Im sure all the intentions here are good, but the laws in Virginia are on the books to prevent all the problems that can come about from unmonitored raffles with large prizes and the possibility of fraud or delay in prize awarding due to low ticket sales. Stanger1,
Very good information and I don't think you deserved to get flamed. If this raffle is on the up and up, then so be it, if not shame on them. However, I feel that if they didn't sell enough and had to push it back, shouldn't there be some communication on to how many tickets were sold and thus they had to push the due date back? Just my 02 cents.

Well is ten days after the raffle date, and they are still advertising tickets on craigslist and the church website still says the drawing is Dec 31 2011
Would be nice if they would update things and tell us WHEN and HOW MANY TICKETS are being sold. Especially since they intend to give it to someone else if you win and fail to contact them. |

I apologize to everyone about the raffle. Last time I talked to them about it they were going to contact everyone who purchased tickets about the new date. Well I guess this was not done by what I am hearing and reading. I got the same feedback from some of my friends today. I am going to get with them first thing tomorrow to see why this has happened the way it has. Yes anything over 40000 in sales needs a permit and I thought they said the church could get the permit when they were close to those sales. This is their first raffle so they are having some difficulty with it. They tried using paypal to keep it simple but paypal does not allow that. So they had to set something totally different up to collect payment. As far as tickets it's costing them about $5 a ticket to have printed and mailed out so I think they were trying to use event bright to handle it but not sure how it's going right now. This raffle is legit and if anyone wants to see the car I am more than willing to show it. Again I apologize about what has happened and will contact them first thing tomorrow.

I bought a ticket over a month and haven't received a ticket in the mail or any correspondence.

Yes this is legit. Anyone in the area is more than welcome to come by and see the car. I am not running the raffle so I have no idea why you have not received the ticket but email me your info or even your phone # and I will be glad to talk to anyone. I do know that several of my friends and coworkers of my wife received theirs. I do know their seems to be alot that is involved with doing a raffle and it was all put on one person. I do work for Verizon and had a customer that was going to donate his time to help out. He runs some IT department in the Marine Corps and knew his stuff. I apologize for what has happened and if I people will pm me with their phone # or however they want me to contact them I will take care of it personally. This car will be worth the wait. If local people want we can all set a place to meet and show the car so everyone can feel better. I understand that with all the garbage that goes on why people would think this could be a scam. So just pm me with all your problems and I will take care of it

Well, I have been patient and sat on the sidelines and waited, at this point I have ZERO confidence in how this raffle is being operated and as far as I'm concerned its a scam.
The ONLY activity I have seen regarding this raffle is INCREASED SPAMMING of sites on the net offering more tickets for sale. I have NOT EVER gotten ANY contact after buying a ticket in early december, no phone, email or snail mail, I have NO TICKET, and I have ZERO CONFIDENCE that I am even IN this raffle, even though I'm out 25 bucks. The church website STILL has not changed the drawing date from Dec 31, 2011 The church DOES HAVE plenty of time to constantly update their facebook page with little snippets though. OK, I'm contacting the relevant parties at the State of Virginia and alerting them to this mess and see if they have any oversight. I will add that I am NOT contacting anyone related to this raffle because the church raffle rules state they will toss you out of the auction for just about any reason. I will add I dont ever do these things (raffles etc) but I am LOCAL to this church. Last edited by stanger1; 01-20-2012 at 07:54 AM. |

OK, I contacted Virginia about this.
At this point I think they need to fully audit this endeavor to ensure no one has been disenfranchised due to poor process. The online web payment system should have been set up to PROVIDE a raffle ticket number to purchasers, instead, it just takes your money, and I never got a thing. Hopefully the State can step in and audit the sales via the various methods used and ensure the consumers are not being charged for something they never received. |
