I know this isnt a 66', but heres my 69' mach with the shelby a-arm drop and 620 # 1" lowering springs.

Basically you drill the mounting holes for the upper a arms 1" lower than stock. Its best to go off of a template, which i may still have. Ill check for it and get back to you.

Drill 1" lower and 1/8" toward the rear on a 65/66 Mustang. The 67' and newer are done differently.

Beware of patterns that are copied from the internet as they may not reproduce properly on the printer. It is easy to measure them to ensure they are correct.

I like (and use) the one found at Tony Branda's as they include instructions and all pertinent dimensions. Here are both parts (with the 2nd being the dimensions) :

The 65/66 location is different. The arms are dropped 1" AND are located 1/8" more to the rear.

1" drop for a 66'

Do I need to do anything special if I am just going to install the 1" lowering springs? Does this change anything on the car? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

nothing special if you install the 1" lowering springs

While you are at it, this is a good time to inspect your spring perches, and the rubber spacer/bushing that rests inside the top or the bottom of the spring.

First you must have you picture hosted somewhere on the web. Next you must use the right commands.

Use {img]http://www.whereverthepicishosted.com{/img] as and example.

Be sure to change each "{" above to a "[" in order to make it work.

So if you change the 2 "{" below to a "[", you will get the picture found underneath.

You can only link to that site, using the advance mode, as I did above.

The pics can not be displayed here from that site. Try hosting them at somewhere like Photobucket. Its fast to signup and FREE. The pics URL should end with the JPG. BMP or some other picture type format (which the Yahoo site doesn't.)

The way you were doing it was almost right, but you needed to remove the "/" in front of the first use of the word "img" (only). The last one was correct with the "/" in front of "img".

You can practice by using this pic: http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/1109/1dropjw1.jpg Simply post using {img]http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/1109/1dropjw1.jpg{/img] but be sure to change the 2 instances of "{" to a "[".

1"drop

Kinda chiming in late but will the shelby drop work on a 64/65 falcon as well?
Front sits higher with an aluminum headed 302 than with the original strait 6. go figure.

That's a tough one, the only reason most of us know about the shelby drop on the mustang is because an engineer at ford figured it out. There's a reasonably good following for falcons, you should seek out some websites devouted to racing falcons, if you find something about relocating their upper control arms then you are set.

Otherwise I guess you could measure your car and compare it to a mustang. If your shock towers look the same as a mustangs, and if your upper control arms are located at the same height and the lower control arms are at the same height and you and somehow measure how far forward the arms are in relation to where the wheels sit on the ground (not height) and you determine that its all the same as a mustang and I'm pretty sure that mustang and falcon suspensions are interchangable or I think they are. But you get to do the research and let us know :-)

I have been looking into doing the shelby drop. There is a good article, that covers both the granada brake swap and the shelby drop. The first part of the address is geocities but when I try to post the full address the list wont let me because I just joined. I can't even put my eamil address in the post

try a google search for shelpy drop thats how I found it

Heres pics of my car after complete suspension replacement. Shelby front drop and 620 springs.

Now, heres the current pics. In addition to the stuff up top:
I cut 1/2 a coil off each front spring and installed 1" lwoering blocks in the rear.

Also, those are 17" wheels.
