68 GT 500

So whats one worth?
From what I'm told.
Original owner.
Never restored.
Was in a garage up until a year ago after sitting for 20 years.
Then out under a cover the last year
The family had some local car guy working on it trying to get it started and he socked them for a good ammount.

I'm going to look at it tomorrow or monday to get the vin, pictures and document what I can.
I'm not buying it. Just helping out the family determine its worth and help them sell it.

I hope this is what it they think it is.
at first I was told it was a GTO

KR 500

Rough but all there and original 20+
decent all the way around 50+
Originality and no missing parts seriously increases value.

That car is an eBay magnet.

In that condition I would think 20 ish, but much of it depends on the rust and how many original parts are missing.

I'd swing by the local mechanic shop and tell them you are buying the car and asked him if he snagged any parts off it and what and where he worked on.

Yeah, I'd love to have that.

My bud claims that guy more or less was trying to buy it off them for a few dollars.
He got made when they said no. They just didnt trust him.

He didnt return the keys and swung by a few times with a flatbed.
I'm guessing he wants to take it then claim they didnt pay him.
I'll post up more after I go there.

Heck if it were 20 ish then I sure would be interested in finding out more from the OP about it since that is my dream car. I have a feeling it is worth more. I met a Shelby restorer when I picked up my 67 GT Fastback a few months ago. He had there a 69(or maybe he said 70, I forget) GT500 that looked really rough but said across pallets he had all the parts for it. I think he said he paid low to mid 30s for it. I recall him saying he will have upwards of $100k when done with it and should be worth $30-50k over that.

To the OP I say ask over on the SAAC forum or maybe just the vintage mustang one. Both are full of people very versed on these cars and their value. Although bottom line it will fetch the most on eBay. Too many people overpay for desirable classics on there and they seem to ignore the costs to make the cars whole again.
