It started out as a 2.3L. It's got a stock 80k mile engine from a '92 5.0, except it's carbed. Exhaust and a couple of bolt-ons. 3.55 gears. I might do the engine at some point. I've been around a lot of body shops. A good friend of mine owned one. I've painted a few cars, but I've never done it professionally. Just a hobby I guess. Thanks for the compliments, guys. That car's been a lot of work and I appreciate the pat on the back. . Last edited by grn92conv; 10-03-2007 at 02:16 AM. |

It was actually a hard descision, because I like both 4eyed and aero. There were several deciding factors. I had the parts to do it either way, but the parts I had for aero were in better condition/less work to do. Also, even though the car's a serious Frankenstein, I didn't want it to look like one. I wanted a car that looked showroom floor stock (which is also getting rare) and there's certain parts of the 4 eyed cars that I don't like, in stock form. I don't like the stock 15" dialphone wheels, black body molding and louvered side glass. I also like the 87+ tail lights better. I could have used the '86 covers, painted the body moldings to match color, used 87+ quarter glass and tail lights and it would've looked great, but then my frankenstein would look like one and I didn't want that with this car. That car looks incredible! You really did a fine job on the paint and bodywork. Looking at those pics is getting me fired up to go outside and work on mine in the middle of the night.

90topdown, it wasn't that bad. I just spread it out over too long. If I'd jumped on it and stayed with it, I could have done it in a month or 2, instead of the year and half it took me
![]() Thanks, guys! |

Thanks, man.
http://5lmustang.com/forum/viewtopic...er=asc&start=0 I was documenting it here, but the site lost it‘s image server. I had pictures of it in the make shift booth before and after spraying and all kinds of pictures. I lost them all or most. The picture’s below are about all that’s left. ![]() Striping it. ![]() ![]() After all of the body work, with the 87-93 nose and hood being test fitted and the primer guide coated with some old nason green I had. Ready for the final blocking before finish coats.

It color code's PA (Deep jewel green/metallic).. There's 4 or 5 different alternatives to the PA code. Mine's alternative D (slightly more blue with heavier pearl)
Below's an example of how different the alternatives can be, for the same color, with same code. I needed more paint for the body moldings, the paint pro gave me the wrong alternative. They somehow got messed up and mixed the most common PA color. The part with my hand on it, is the mess up. The more blue w/ heavier pearl is the car's color. They replaced the paint and got me the correct color, but that's the way things go for me, I have to do everything twice. I had all of the moldings based and cleared before I realized it didn't match ![]() I made a booth, using plastic sheeting, box fans and filters. Thanks Last edited by grn92conv; 10-19-2007 at 07:52 PM. |
