92 mustang what size is the door speakers?

i have a 92 mustang and want to put in components what size is the door speaker so that i know what size woofer to get? and what brand or model woofer do you recommend for the door for use with a component setup?

will 5 1/4 fit perfectly? and did you have to make mod to get the 6 1/2 to fit?

i put 6.5 alpines in mine//just had to drill holes for screws

thanks...but is 5 1/4 the stock size? 6.5 is even better now that i know from you guys that they will fit i may have to check that out.

not all 6 1/2" will fit watch your depth.

I got 6 1/2" in mine but had to make a spacer

yes..But its worth the few extra minutes to squeeze the 6.5's in there. I don't know the depth specs off hand try to find one as close to your stock 5.25 depth you can get. There is def a difference in sound quality.

thanks guys i ordered the polk audio ones that are above from crutchfield. they must know the depth because they had ones that said they fit in the door and others that underneath them said "mods needed" so when they get there i will put them in and hopfully it will make everything sound better.

polk db fit great, u will have to drill new holes but just about any speaker will require that. then use 1/4mdf or metal backstrapping to put tweets in dash

as far as the wiring goes. The wires from the dash go to the crossover then the crossover to the Tweets and then run a new wire into the door for the woofer right?

depends on where you are placing the tweeters and where the signal is coming from.

I put the tweeters in the kick panels and the woofer in the door. I run them off an amp, so I ran new wire to the crossover. I then cut the OEM door wiring and spliced in new wire from the crossovers to the OEM door wiring for the woofer. I ran new wire from the crossover to the tweeter. Not the best way for audiophile sound, but I'm not competing and the hassle of routing wire through the grommet wasn't worth the minimal difference in sound quality.

i will be putting the tweeters in the stock location and the woofers in the stock location and i guess hiding the crossover in the dash behind the tweeter
