A/C compressor / clutch / hub issues

Ok, so first the clutch hub was falling apart and making a nasty noise. This is just the outer hub with the 3 large press rivets; not the whole clutch pulley. Got another clutch hub new Motorcraft for cheap. Slapped the new hub on there and thought it was all good - no more noise. A couple hundred miles later I hear this nasty gurgling whining sound. I noticed it's coming from the compressor. Apparently when I replaced the hub, it locked the clutch on 24/7. Now it seems it killed my compressor. Still blows cold though.

1. What did I do wrong? Was I supposed to set a certain clearance instead of full torque on the hub?

2. Should I throw another used compressor on there and it will be good? Or do now I need to replace additional components if something is contaminated? Should I just buy a new compressor too or is a clean used on pretty safe?

Thanks

Spacer behind hub to get .030" best my memory can do. Tighten retaining bolt/nut to only 10-12 ft lbs.
