distributor gear removal/replacement

I just bought a msd distributor and need to change the gear from a iron to a steel gear. what is the best way to get the old gear off
and the new one back on ?

89 coupe Fresh 302 bottom end, Stage 2 trickflow cam, Stage 3 world windsor JR aluminum heads, 1.6 roller rockers, Victor jr carbed intake, 650 speed demon carb with, 1 5/8 longtube headers, 2 1/2 h-pipe
Flowmasters, 4.30 gears, C-4 trans with 2200 stall.. Best so far 8.11@86.68mph with a 1.86 60 foot..
Just added a 150 shot of nitrous. New times on spray 6.95@99.29 with a 1.54 60 foot..

New combo...
CHP 347 , Coan 5500 stall , Full roller C-4 trans , 4.30 Gears with spool and 31 spline axles.. No times yet but it should be fast.. ( SOLD )

2002 GT.. UPR X - Pipe with Mac cat back and underdrive pullies..

You'll need a press. Before you press it off though, take some measurements so you can make sure the the gear is sitting in the same place.

Any machine shop should be able to press the old one off and the new one on for you pretty cheaply.

Use a press. The new gear comes with instructions and the specs for installing the gear in the right place.
