I have a 95 mustang with a 351w and a Lakewood Bellhousing. Can someone please let me know what size the starter bolts are for this setup. I have heard both 7/16 and 1/2? Length needed as well! Thanks

it is a 3/8 - 16 thread and it has to have a 1/2 inch hex head...
a normal hardware store bolt in 3/8 is going to have a 9/16 hex head.
a 9/16 wrench head is not going to pass a socket around the starter...
we usually use a 1/4 square drive extention to get it snug ( top most bolt) and then do the final tightening with a larger 3/8 square drive extention....

usually 1 3/8 long but you have to check because the starter and quality of thread in block plate has different thicknesses....

you are suyppose to TEST FIT the starter on the bellhousing BEFORE you put it IN THE CAR....!!!!!

go to the junk yard to find this bolt.!!!

the ONLY bolts that are 7/16-14 thread are what holds on the bellhousing to the engine BLOCK.

there are NO 1/2 inch bolts used unless someone changed the transmission mounting bolts...they are also 7/16-14 thread.
