Question triple x markings on lifter valley

what does this mean? is it a good block to have for semi- hot motor? i know it is a non roller motor, it is out of a 84 gt, tore it apart for 4 collapsed lifters, going to re build it with good stuff, just wondering what triple x mean.

my factory stock block in my 92 was a xxx. hydraulic roller motor. from what i have seen building motors there were two designations on the factory 302 blocks. xxx up to 92 had forged pistons and yyy 93 only (i believe) hydraulic roller hypereutectic pistons. that is what i have seen but could be wrong.

this is correct!,I have a roller block that came out of an 86 cougar that has the YYY casting, and my current engine I'm building for my notch is a non roller(which I have converted to roller cam) 80 block that has XXX,so these codes don't mean what kind of slugs came in them!

the block itself is NO DIFFERENT.....

....XXX just means that there is no clothes on the stuff underneath....
.you have to look inside.

there is NO correlation to XXX or YYY or KKK or any of the viewed markings........!!!!

XXX means that it needs a DIAPER to keep from spewing oil all over the track when it splits down the middle....

it already has a GIRDLE...

and THAT does NOTHING but drain 100 dollars out of your walletttttttt.......................$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$

a $100 girdle is better than a $1500 rotating assembly. My friend split 2 blocks and the rotating assembly was still fine so girdles aren't as worthless as everyone says they are

I thought all XXX, YYY, KKK, ABC blocks were late model roller blocks. How did this one come out of an early 80s?

Yes, a main girdle can save the rotating assembly. It can prevent it from falling out when the block splits. The valley girdle, which we've all seen spammed on this site, is a joke. We already have a valley girdle on every engine.

Triple x's, o's, y's ect... are just band aids casted on for the pit holes in the block.

Thats because the B50 is nothing more than a stock block for "sportsman" racers. The original "sportsman" block offured circa 1997, was M6010A351 and designed around the roundy rounder classes. Similar iron as the N351 for NASCAR, but designed within stock block paramaters so it was available to the average Saturday night guys.
