Question What year Explorers have gt40 and gt40p heads?

What year Explorers have gt40 and gt40p heads? which Explorer intakes are compatible with fox 5.0s? how can i make sure i'm buying a well-running motor(from a salvage yard)?


89 GT T5, 3.73, mac 1 5/8 u/l,mac o/r h-pipe.3-chamber flow catback, mac CAI, C&L 73mm, cat pulleys, some weight removed

1996 has great GT40 heads,and they have the EGR provision.I just put a set on E-Bay about 5 minutes ago.They'll work great with the 5.0.The same year intake is also a great piece.I've got one on my 5.0 right now.As I stated,I like the '96 because it has the EGR.Good luck.

96-mid 97 = GT-40 with internal EGR
mid 97- up = GT-40p with external EGR

If you need to pass an emissions test, you need an intake with internal egr. If you have no emissions test, either intake will work

Do a search- there's tons of info. that same question gets asked at least once a week.
