Question smoke inside the car?

i have an 89 gt mustang. when i get on the car . . . smoke fills the car outside and in. however when i drive it regular it seems to run fine. also when i am idling the oil gauge seems to level low. is there a leak or should i just add oil? any advice would be great.

Posssible a major leak somewhere down there on the H pipe. You can really know where its comming from until you look down and trace the leak, could come from many different areas under engine components.

Check to see if you still have your dip stick tube. Happened to me once , car was fine until 5 grand and then I thought it was on fire

yeah look at your exhaust to see if theres any oil burns on there(black markings from oil burning off) and find where its coming from. then see if your exhaust is leaking.

had the same exact problem and it was oil coming out the dipstick burning on the header cause it wouldnt stay on tight, little electric tape fixed the problem.

And the smoke is getting in some how or another - my guess is through the tranny tunnel - the rubber boots get torn/cut during ANY tranny work...

You could have a rear main leak. And when you romp on it all the oil goes to the back and then the higher exhaust temps cause it to burn off..

Also the rear of your valve covers or lower intake could be leaking too.

I have smoke come thru my tranny/shifter area and it does it when I get on it hard...and I got to looking at I have a leak on the back of my lower intake. It gets on my tranny...and gives off a "watery eye" smell...

I have also had it (it was considerably worse - it would do it under regular driving) a BAD rear main seal leak and it would smoke pretty badly constantly (needless to say I didn't drive it much), it got on the tranny/h-pipe and burned...

Since the lower intake leak my oil pressure guage shows a bit of a drop as well...surely it's related Would that do it? An oil leak at the back of the intake?
