build me a 400 hp+ 351W for as cheap as possible

I know there is an engine guru out there that knows how to build up a 351W. there has to be a good cheaper way of stroking the motor than buying the expensive stroker kits..... I want 400 hp and 450+ torque and I would prefer a lower rpm torque..... How would yall build this?

392/396 is the cheap 351w stroker. Stroker crank, 351 rods, 302 pistons I believe. Ask your builder about it.

the cubes stay at 351 yes. This engine is set up for efficency. the longer rod keeps the piston in the combustion chamber longer = a hotter, more complete burn.

This is not set up for peek numbers. This set up will give you a VERY broad tq curve...much like many cubes will do. This just gives you a way a keeping good fuel economy as well...kinda like having your cake and eating it to. It is very streetable.

I am using a custom cam...but you can call Crane and get one very similar. I will be using TFS "High Port" heads. You can go smaller...but I want room to grow.

The only one I have ever seen run used GT40P heads...and he had the flywheel power at 387 and 428 tq...those heads are wicked velocity.

I will be running an Air Gap intake and a 650 vacumn secondary carb for street...with a 800 double pumper for track...

This engine is set up to make great power with limited heads...and even more with big heads...

just a suggestion!

PAW.....?

Hot Rod magazine built a 400 crank/351W block a few years ago using parts from PAW. Maybe you could get a reprint. I don't remember what rods they used - probably 351W rods.

I wonder if PAW offers the kit..you could order it or copy it. I always wanted to build one but never got around to it. Maybe later sometime.

You will need really goood heads.

Good luck!
