I'm seeing an epidemic of cars breaking up lately. You should read tripleblackvert, Gilroyracing and dart347's threads. They are all going through it also. TripB fixed his by locking out his timing. While not the real cure it made his problem go away.

Yea I am thinking its the distributor but not sure.

I am thinking of putting a 100 shot on it, the 50 shot just doesnt do it for me. Look for around 475whp

I really thought I would make at least 400whp NA. If it wasnt low compression I probably would have been closer to what I wanted.

When I switched from shortys and a 2.5 exhaust to 1 3/4 LTs and 3 inch exhaust I picked up a little over 4 mph in the 1/4. My compression is also low, and Im still NA.

Breaking down at around 6300? Is it like it's hitting a speed limiter? Has the Max PIP scalar been bumped up? I don't recall the exact name of the scalar off the top of my head...

Ok here is an update.

The compression is low because of previous plans for turbo +/- 9.4:1 (13.8cc dish)

Being tuned with Moates QH and a wideband.

Yes the breakup is very similar to a rev limiter but I am not sure about the max PIP scalar

Full 3" exhaust has been installed and waiting to go back to the dyno for an update. I went with a 3" universal summit racing X pipe and 3" Dynomax Ultra Flo Welded mufflers with turdowns. I didnt have the resources to do bolt on collector flanges so I am using band clamps on the header collector to x-pipe until I can put some bolt on connections.

Yep, T4M0 is 7503 for 8cyl. PIP.

Funny thing is add me to the list of breaking up issues. Dynoed last year, no issues, changed plug wires/cap/rotor, heads (6037s to AFR185s), ported intake and went back to the dyno this year and it was breaking up like crazy and made less whp than my old setup ... All other things being equal and I was breaking up above 4200. Tuner concluded I was dropping a cylinder.

I did notice my new wires (Taylor ThndrVt 8.2's) had holders loose on #3,6,7. Pull on the wire and it slipped right out of the plug crimp (just fixed this past weekend). Then again plug #8 look pretty clean (no spark?). I'm going to try a new dizzy since current one is a remanf cardone unit.

Since A/F looks good, datalog "spark source" and load--it will tell you what spark table position it's using and you can probably narrow down where spark is messing up (if it's a tune issue).

Update-

No dyno sheet, but did make it back to the track. Unfortunately I think its safe to say the 3" exhaust did absolutely nothing. Previous times with 2.5" exhaust were all consistant 11.8@115. New times the same. 11.8@115 with similar 60' times (always spinning to a 1.6x).

I was not the happiest camper. The last pass I decided to power shift from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th and gained 2mph. First and only time I have ever powershifted the car. Gained 2mph but nothing else changed.

Sorry to see that the new exhaust didnt help as much as you wanted. I couldnt believe how much it helped me, but my FTI cam was made for the parts I have now, not the small stuff I was running so maybe thats why I picked up what I did.
