If you want internal egr simply look at the lower and upper interface. There'll be a hole dead center of each (4 ports on one side of the small hole and 4 on the other) where the exhaust gas moves from the heads through the lower and into the upper. If it's there - you're egr internal ready. If it's not.... Here's mine - note there is NO HOLE between the front 4 ports and rear 4 - this lower is NOT egr ready.

Explorer/Mountaineer/Cobra/GT40 all share the same lower.

ok i got one set on the car already it was on when i got it, not sure if it has the hole or not i just know there is more vacuum ports and the shape from the plenum to the tb is a lil different. the other gt 40 i have has the hole in the lower but the upper is blocked. are they both ok to use? all my egr is deleted off the car anyways..

If your egr is deleted - then I'd use at least the upper without a hole - to keep exhaust gas heat as far away from the upper as possible. If you can find a lower AND upper without the passages - even less heat. If the lower is missing the hole - doesn't matter which upper you use as you've cut the exhaust path off at the head.

Explorer intake with Internal EGR will have -BA at the end of the part number on the lower intake.

Explorer intake without internal EGR will have -BB at the end. If you look at the intake above...it says -BB

Also....just look for the EGR hole

Left is late model explorer...right is early model

There ya go - didn't have a picture of my upper. And I'd forgotten that there's actually a passage completely between the front and rear runners. I run the vacuum hose to my FPR through there.....

I can press in a plug if you wish to block off the hole in the EGR lower so you can use your current upper..........
